Room for Two

We only have two bedrooms upstairs, so Natalie and her little brother are going to share a room for a few years. I'm not even letting myself worry about how this is actually going to work yet... we'll cross that bridge when we get there. For right now I'm just telling myself that our little boy is going to be a wonderfully sound sleeper. Let me dream.

I went back and forth over whether we needed two cribs or not, and in the end we went ahead and bought a second crib. The new baby will sleep in our room for a while, but I'm sure that Natalie will still need her crib once he is ready to move to a crib, so we have two cribs. Problem solved.

We'll change this picture once he is born and his name is finalized. I would say we're probably 90% set on a first name, and unless we change it, it doesn't start with "B".

These signs are Pottery Barn knockoffs that our sister-in-law Shawna helped us make. I fell in love with them online, but I couldn't quite justify paying $60 a piece for them. Ours probably cost $10 a piece, and I love them so much more because we made them ourselves.

17 Months & 8 Months

Today Natalie is 17 months old, and I am somewhere around 8 months pregnant (although the picture would have you believe I'm closer to 11 months pregnant).

At 17 months old Natalie is for the first time in her life sleeping well, and at 8+ months pregnant I am for the first time in my life becoming an insomniac.

At 17 months old Natalie is the thinnest she has ever been. She has lost most of her baby fat and is really quite tall and skinny. At 8+ months pregnant I am quite the opposite of tall and skinny.

At 17 months old Natalie talks constantly until someone new comes around, then she is a shy, cuddly little girl. At 8+ months pregnant I'm enjoying the extra cuddle time.

We both prefer stretchy pants, afternoon naps, chocolate Teddy Grahams, and ice cream, and we're both extremely excited to add a little boy to our daily routine in just a few short weeks.

Hello, Sunshine

Dare I say that today felt like a spring day?

To my dismay, Natalie chose the wagon over the stroller for our walk this afternoon. The wagon is just a bit large and awkward, and at 34 weeks pregnant I don't think I need any help in the large and awkward arenas. In the end we probably both had more fun with the wagon though, so Natalie was right.

Natalie narrated most of the walk to me - "birds, kids, truck, pup....," and we were only briefly interrupted by an elderly man who thought we looked like we needed a world news and politics update.

All in all, great walk.

Hello, Sunshine! Please stay a while!

Weigh In

Natalie, Belle, and I had a weigh in this morning.

The pregnant lady's weight is not pictured for obvious reasons.

It's a Boy!

Some women say they can tell whether they're having a boy or a girl - mother's instinct. I have never been one of those women. I incorrectly guessed that Natalie was a boy, and I had no clue about this baby's gender until last Monday. That's when we had our 20 week sonogram that showed a healthy baby boy!

I'm really excited and just a tiny bit nervous about having a boy. I love that we'll get to experience parenting both a daughter and a son. The thought of the toy box holding both dolls and trucks makes me really happy, so does the thought of going prom dress shopping and sitting in the stands at football games.

But O'Halloran boys have a history of not only liking trucks and football. Historically they also really like Star Wars, and that's the part that makes me nervous. Before we got married I told Chris that the only way I'd ever watch Star Wars was if we had a son, and now I'm beginning to eat my words.

Star Wars marathons and figurines aside, I'm so very excited for this little boy to get here! Natalie is going to be really excited when he arrives too. She currently loves babies, and hugs herself and then me every time she sees one.

Coming April 2014!

I think everyone who reads the blog already knows the news, but some may not have seen the announcement.

I'll be 13 weeks along on Wednesday. I've been so fortunate this time around in that I haven't felt sick at all. I have been somewhat tired, but I'm not so sure that that is related to the pregnancy as much as it is to the fact that Natalie is still FAR from sleeping through the night. My biggest pregnancy symptom so far (other than my already protruding tummy) has been my need to eat all. the. time.

We are so excited! I get more excited with each day. I think it is just now starting to sink in that this is really happening. We're going to be busy with two under two, that's for sure. Busy and happy. Just the way it should be.
