12 Years

 Twelve years ago we had no idea how good life could be. 

Isabel is 4!

Isabel told me this evening, "I can't believe I'm 4!" I can't believe it either. Four seems so big, but four is also so very fun. Isabel keeps us smiling and laughing every day. She has such a sweet disposition and a great sense of humor. She has really come out of her shell this year. I used to think she was shy, but now she makes a new friend wherever we go. It's so sweet to watch her chat with new friends at the pool, at the library, and around the neighborhood. She currently loves to play baby dolls, listen to stories, and ride her bike. She keeps us on our toes in all of the best ways. We're so happy to be on this adventure with her.

Chris turned 34!

Ice cream cones have been a summer staple.

Abby now says "Cheese" for pictures.

Chris painted the shop with some early helpers.

We took the kids bowling, and everyone loved it so much that we're already planning our return trip.

We celebrated Isabel's birthday with the O'Hallorans at a joint donut party with cousin Kolbe at the park. More birthday celebrations to come because tomorrow is her big day!

Abby at Maxwell

Chris had a better view of Abby and the bison.

The kids were so excited to go to the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge to see the bison again. It is one of the highlights of our summer. The bison and the prairie are beautiful, and the tour guides have so many interesting stories and facts to share. Abby loved the bison too. She waved and told each one "bye bye" as we drove away. 

Botanica

We had a lot of fun at Botanica yesterday!

The troll hill is their favorite. 

I always love this rainbow arch.

Abby was very preoccupied by the huge planter shaped like a squirrel just to the side of the rainbow arch.

She hugged herself when she saw it. That is her response to most small, furry animals. 

Another favorite play area is the climbing tree with these cocoon seats.

We were in the shade most of the time, but we were happy for the water play when we were in the sun!
