Yates Center Day Parade

My ten year class reunion was Saturday. Come to find out, not every school celebrates reunions with a parade around the town square with the celebrating classes sitting on trailers. I never really thought I'd go back to ride around the square and wave, but I did, and I'm really glad I went. I had a great time catching up with old friends. Natalie and Max had a fun time at the parade too. They each walked away with a bag full of candy.

A little boy's wonderland

The construction workers have parked a few huge piles of gravel right in front of (and slightly on) our front yard. Max is loving his new rock mountains and the mote that the mountains are creating in front of our driveway.

Zoo Members

We bought a zoo membership on our zoo trip last week, and apparently membership comes with perks. The zoo is opening a huge new elephant exhibit to the public at the end of the month, but zoo members got a sneak peek this week. We took a quick trip to see the elephants and some of their friends after some errands in Wichita this afternoon. We saw them right before a short rain hit, so they were all huddled by the barn instead of moving throughout the fancy exhibit. We were still impressed though. We'll definitely be back!

Stinky Zoo

We had a free afternoon yesterday and the weather was surprisingly perfect, so the kids and I jumped in the car and headed to the zoo. This was the first time we've been in a long time and the first time that Max really understood what was going on. They kept talking about how much fun they were having... and how stinky it was. Max was especially worried about the smell. We had to leave the giraffe/elephant/rhino building immediately after walking in because he started crying and yelling "stinky!". They have a million stories to tell about the zoo now, but one of the most popular is about how stinky that building was.
