Emma Creek 5K

We all had a great time walking in the Emma Creek 5K this morning. Emma and Isabel hopped in and out of the stroller but actually walked and ran quite a bit of the course, and Abigail slept through it all.

Shops

Today was "Shops" day in third grade! The kids have been learning about economics through the creation and management of their own "shop". Natalie chose to make monster cookie bars. She sold (for fake money) to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders, teachers, and parents, and she came close to selling out. Fun was had by all!

"I can't imagine"

Chris overheard Emma whispering:  "I can't imagine she's born. I can't imagine she's this cute."

Grandma's Duck

My great-aunt Mary made this duck pillow for my grandma, and Isabel is very excited to be it's new owner.

Pollinator Party

Instead of researching famous Americans like the second grade classes have done in the past, this year's second graders have been studying plants and pollinators. We got to go to the first annual Pollinator Party out in front of the school this afternoon, and it was so cute and fun to watch. They sang songs at the beginning and end, but the main event was the wax museum setup. The kids each had a paper "button" in front of them on the sidewalk, and they gave a speech about their chosen pollinator when their button was pushed. Max's pollinator was the irritator wasp. He did so well and was having so much fun.

Happy Easter!

Max is 8!

Max turned eight years old on Saturday! We started celebrating last weekend with a trip to the movie theater with some friends. We had cupcakes at home on Saturday before leaving for Yates Center where we continued the celebration. Max has really been acting a lot more grown up lately. He is a great helper around the house and a great big brother. We love watching him grow and learn. Eight is going to be a good year!

Kindergarten Roundup

Emma has been so excited for kindergarten roundup. When she woke up this morning, she ran to hug me and said, "Today is going to be a fun day!" She skipped down the sidewalk singing "Kindergarten roundup!" on our way there.

50 Miles

Each spring the PE teacher challenges the kids to walk or run laps around the playground during recess for the SWAG (Swather Walkers Achieving Greatness) program. The kids get tokens to wear on a necklace for reaching certain mile markers, and the big prize is a t-shirt for running 50 miles. Natalie set a goal this SWAG season to earn a shirt, and she did it this week! Now she says she's going for 70 miles!
