Cheesecake Tea Party

We have the best friends and family. We have received so many meals and goodies since Emma was born last week. Last night Lacy brought us a cheesecake that isn't going to last long. For our afternoon snack today the big kids and I had a cheesecake tea party while Emma dreamed of cheesecake in her cradle.

One Week with Emma

Emma is one week old today! It's so strange to think that just a week ago we didn't know this sweet little girl.

We took her to have her weight checked this afternoon to make sure she's growing the way she should. The goal is to be back to birth weight by two weeks old, and Emma already weighs 7 pounds 14 ounces, 2 ounces more than her birth weight. She is following nicely in her siblings' super-grower footsteps.

After Emma's weight check, we took her to Braum's for the first time. We told ourselves we were celebrating our last day with Chris home before he goes back to work tomorrow. Or maybe we were celebrating Emma's one week birthday. Or her weight gain. Something. Anything for Braum's.

The most exciting part of our day was Emma's newborn photo shoot this morning. It was fun to play dress up with her, and Pam got some great shots. Stay tuned because Pam says she should have our gallery to us in a few days!

Sunday Best

Emma went to church for the first time this morning, and she slept through the whole thing. She wore the same teeny tiny dress that Natalie wore on her first trip to church four and a half years ago.

Sweet Dreams

Emma was extra sleepy today.

Can you ever have enough pictures of a sleeping baby? I don't think so.

This next picture is unrelated to sleeping babies, but it is pretty sweet too. These welcome home signs were hanging on the garage door when we brought Emma home yesterday. The tiny piece of paper at the bottom of the picture is a teeny sign for Emma from Max.

Emma Madeline

Emma is here!

And we couldn't be more in love.

She surprised us all by arriving at 11:27 pm on Monday the 27th after only two hours of labor. She was in a hurry, and we are so glad she was because we have loved every minute we've had with her.

She also surprised us with her size. I was expecting a big baby because that's all we've ever known. I had predicted earlier in the day Monday that she would weigh 9 pounds even, but she proved me very wrong by arriving at only 7 pounds 12 ounces. She seems so itty bitty!

We got to come home from the hospital today and are currently working on creating our new normal as a family of five!

Bus Ride

We got a private bus tour of Hesston this afternoon. My grandpa drives the bus for Allen Community College, and he brought the softball team to town today for a couple games against Hesston College. The kids were really impressed with the bus, and as always, we loved seeing Grandpa.
